Writing & Poetry Competitions & Submissions – August 2024
The summer may be on the turn but never mind because there are over 140 fresh poetry competitions, writing submissions and opportunities open or with deadlines in August 2024.
La Dolce Vita, the new Italian-themed 30-day summer writing challenge hit the ground running at the beginning of the month and its not to late to join in the fun, if you fancy challenging yourself to writing a poem-a-day for 30 days - details and booking information at the link above.
As it’s back-to-school season, we have a new calendar of online poetry workshop groups kicking off at the beginning of September, with daytime, evening and weekend options available. These are eight-week online poetry workshops for writers to read, discuss and receive essential feedback on their work.
Held on Zoom, the workshop group size is deliberately kept small - only 4-5 people - to ensure your poems will receive plenty of attention and thoughtful feedback. These sessions are ideal for testing ideas or putting poems through their paces, if you're planning to send your work out to magazines or competitions.
